8 Game Poker At Pokerstars – Mixed Poker Madness
8 Game poker is a mixed poker game that is popular among extremely skilled poker players and players that think they are extremely skilled. I used to think Horse poker was tough until I started playing 8-Game poker. The 8 Game rules include the rules for 7 card games as well as specific rules for mixed game play at Pokerstars. This article will cover the rules of 8-Game Poker. I will not list the rules for each specific poker game since I have separate articles covering those. You may be wondering why I said “7 games” instead of 8 games. Texas Hold’em has two rotations in 8 Game Poker. One is played in the fixed limit format while the other is no limit. To learn how to play 8 Game you will need to know the specific rules for many poker games as well as several betting formats. 8 Game Mix includes these games, in this exact order:
Game 1: FL 2-7 Triple Draw – Rules – Strategy
Game 2: FL Texas Hold’em – Rules – Strategy
Game 3: FL Omaha HL – Rules – Strategy
Game 4: FL Razz – Rules – Strategy
Game 5: FL Seven Card Stud – Rules – Strategy
Game 6: FL Stud HL – Rules – Strategy
Game 7: NL Hold’em – Rules – Strategy
Game 8: PL Omaha – Rules – Strategy
How To Play 8 Game Poker?
Most poker rooms that offer mixed poker games have 10 hand rotations, Pokerstars (Visit) is different though. At Poker Stars you will only play each of the games listed above for 6 hands. Six hand rotations are better than 10 game rotations because if there is a game or two you find boring it does not take as long to complete the rotation and move on to the next game. When you sit down at an 8 Game table you will rarely start off with fixed limit Hold’em. You can easily find out which game you is currently being played by looking at the top of the table. The game and hand number is listed to the right of the table name and stakes.
8 Game is the most popular mixed poker variant in the world. A mixed game player needs to be well rounded. If you are a strong Hold’em player but have limited experience with the Stud poker games you will likely be a losing 8-Game player. Mixed poker games like Horse poker and 8 Game allow players to test their overall skill in poker against other players. 8 Game players need to be highly skilled in every form of poker, even some uncommon card games. 2-7 Triple Draw is the black sheep in 8-Game. This is not a mainstream card game so if you do not know much about it you should make it a prioity to learn.
Sitting out – The Rules Of 8 Game Poker
Some 8 Game players think that they can gain an edge by sitting out during certain games. This is a cheap tactic used by unskilled players. Let’s say you are a winning player in every game except for Razz poker. You could just sit out during the Razz rotation but this is frowned upon by the poker room and the other players. Selectively sitting out of games in 8-Game is not against the rules but it is a violation of table ettequite. If you are not up to the challenge of 8-Game Poker, don’t play it.
